Now that Clara Foster has accepted Gabe Holt’s hand in marriage, she is delighted to join Gabe and his two young brothers on their family homestead. Although she misses her job at the Bridgewood Mercantile, the farm has plenty to keep her busy throughout the long summer days. Between household chores and working alongside her husband under the warm prairie sun, Clara still finds time to help her young charges adjust to changes in their growing family.
As life begins to settle in the Holt cabin, the unexpected arrival of Gabe’s brother Jake shocks the family. A hardworking young man, Jake’s presence is a welcome relief on the farm, and his handsome looks quickly make him the most sought after bachelor in the settlement. While Clara finds humour in Jake’s newfound popularity, Gabe is less than thrilled with his brother’s wayward behaviour.
Clara soon realizes that her job on the farm is not only one of wife and mother figure, but of peacekeeper as well. When tension between the two men begins to escalate, Clara must find a way to mend fences between them before Jake decides to leave for good.
