The aim of this book is not to convert the believer, but rather sway the undecided to the side of reason. Although I do not intend to convert the die-hard faithful, this book will hopefully serve as a catalyst for some believers to challenge the core foundations of their faith and rationally justify their religious convictions and practices. If they cannot, then there is no reason to hold on to such archaic and potentially baneful beliefs.
The blinds that religion place over our eyes do not just shield us from the magnitude of reality, but retard our understanding of how the universe really functions. We are not a ‘blessed’ species who was created to watch over the Earth and all it inhabits. Rather, we are the product of mere chance and millions of years of evolution, living on a speck in the vastness of the universe.
