Egon Petri studied with Busoni and was perhaps his greatest disciple. This set contains everything he recorded for Columbia from 1929-1951, apart from a few chamber works. Highlights include the most spectacular Brahms Paganini Variations even committed to disc, the uniquely important Busoni recordings, a broad selection of Liszt including performances of some of the Schubert song transcriptions and previously unreleased recordings of Brahms Op.10 and Op.118 made for Columbia in 1945. Some of this material was previously available on APR but has been completely re-mastered.
