Heralding a new generation of Latin music artistry, Kany GarcÃa is leaving her mark on Spanish-language pop. In just five years of writing and recording at the professional level, this talented singer has won the respect of fans, her fellow musicians and music-industry pros. She's renowned for the potency of her voice and her extraordinary skill at composing memorable songs.
This year, Kany returns with a self-titled album that is a CD/DVD combination recorded and filmed in the heart of Colombia. It's strong and heartfelt repertoire includes new material as well as some of her greatest hits. The entire feel of the album is one you cannot miss, representing what is the essence of her musical career as a singer-songwriter.
Kany is joined on this new album with Latin music icons like Franco de Vita, the Spanish singer Antonio Carmona, the Colombian duo Jorge Celedón and Jimmy Zambrano, and Spanish pop star Dani Martin, former lead vocalist of El Canto Del Loco. Just like her fans, these artists are attracted to her talent and her absolute mastery of musical craft. Launching the album is the single "Que Te Vaya Mal", which features an intriguing sonic mix that incorporates Hawaiian ukulele and a rhythmic base of cumbia and ska, rounded out with a Colombian papayera, which features percussion, wind and brass instruments, not unlike Mexican banda. Using strong influences from her Puerto Rican roots and marrying them with international arrangements, Kany has delivered what is poised to be the album of the year.
