BOOK 3 : A Colossal Jump
Working for the New York Police Department had been an extreme ordeal, as far as I can remember. The routine checks and night patrols had been awful; no human appreciated being drawn away from his or her family. Not that I had anyone to call family. I still remember the latte machine though, a few steps from my desk. Sometimes I used to joke with my colleagues as we drank coffee from it. At other times, I would drink by myself late in the night as I completed and filed police reports. Perhaps my time in the Police department had been a great one, to some extent.
