Samantha is a brand new wife, something that every Amish girl, and girls all over the world from all cultures, dream of becoming. She is looking forward to her life with her sweet and handsome husband, considered by many to be wise far beyond his years. As they start on their marriage journey, they decide to extend their honeymoon and travel to visit her husband’s sister. However, a terrifying thunderstorm threatens to rip away her new husband before they can experience anything they’d planned in life. They are separated suddenly and she has no idea of where he might be, only that he was dragged away by an obstinate, terrified horse. When she learns that far more was at stake than they could have imagined, the desperate search for him only becomes more serious and frantic.
“We were wondering if you could tell us where Eli was?†his father asked.
What was she supposed to say? She had no idea where he was, or if he was still alive. All she could think about was that her marriage wasn’t working. After everything that had run through her mind and worried her before the wedding. She had thought of everything except the fact that her husband would go missing.
Eli has often worried that he will not make a good husband or father, even as his traditional Amish upbringing tells him otherwise. He is a sage man, able to puzzle through some of the most complex problems imaginable, but he desires nothing more than reassurance that he will do what’s right when it comes to raising a family. He has just married the woman of his dreams, and decides to take his sweet Samantha to visit his faraway sister, although he knows that a storm is heading in their direction.
Placing his faith in God that they will arrive safely, he is beyond scared when the storm takes a freakishly bad turn and his horse, stubborn Cooper, decides to drag him into a heavily wooded area in the middle of the night. They become lost, almost hopelessly so, and it is only by remembering his source of strength and faith that he finally comes to believe that all is not lost. After all, he still has Cooper, and he must find his lost wife before it’s too late.
Can Samantha hold out hope that her husband will be found alive and learn of their precious secret?
Will Eli find the strength to make it home before the storm robs him of more than his time and energy?
