The Schrade Viper series Side Assist knife has a unique opening action that fires the blade out the side of the handle. The back side of the handle has a hole to nudge the blade, which activates the assisted opening mechanism. To release the blade simply slide the top mounted button and return blade to the closed position. There is a safety as well, although it is stiff. The Viper Side Assist knife has a tip-down carry pocket clip.
