Hard to believe that anyone would call Madleen Kane a rough diamond - especially with her polished look on the cover, and an equally polished set of grooves underneath! The album features arrangements from the team of Tony Lester and Thor Baldurson - and you can definitely hear Baldurson's classic disco groove firmly in place - pushing things forward with a really compact sense of rhythm at the bottom, one that almost points the way towards 80s sounds, but still with plenty of 70s club warmth - and a brace of strings and other sweet instrument over the top! With a setting like this, you could drop in just about any singer and get a great disco album - but nicely, Madleen manages to bring a little "something extra" to her performance to really send the whole thing home with her sexy vocal approach.
