Using the Rapid Prompting Method, Soma Mukhopadhyay shows parents and educators the techniques and exercises she has used to help build visual tolerance skills for individuals on the spectrum. These lessons and exercises are geared to help individuals work towards the goal of more independent reading as well as build skills around language and grammar. Visually tolerating a page to create a reading habit is a sensory skill that needs to be acquired for many students with autism. Many students who can ear mat not have enough visual tolerance to hold a book in their visual field and grow the habit of reading. The activities outlined in this book are to help gradually progress the students sensory skill of focusing on a page.
