Over the course of his career, Christophe Rousset has consistently excelled both as a harpsichordist and as the director of Les Talens Lyriques. Following on several critically acclaimed albums of keyboard music for Aparte, Rousset turns to Bach's great musical testament: the Well-Tempered Clavier. Written 20 years after the first volume, the second book of this collection contains the musical and spiritual legacy of the composer. Rousset performs on a 1628 Ruckers harpsichord, one of the best examples of its kind in the world, which has been preserved in the chateau de Versailles since 1946.
