- The original Bluenose was built to be a fishing and racing boat in response to the defeat of the Delawana schooner of Nova Scotia by the Esperanto of Massachusetts. It met its fate in 1946 when it ran aground on a reef in Haiti. The Bluenose II is a faithful replica of the original built in 1964 that serves as an ambassador, symbol and tourist attraction of the city of Lunenburg, still sailing today.
- This model is at a scale of 1:75. Once it is built, this faithful miniature replica measures 27.16'' (690mm) length, 4.33'' (110mm) width and 22.44'' (570mm) height.
